For Agents

Retrieve football fixtures, live scores, standings, team and player statistics, predictions, transfers, and bookmaker odds across global leagues.

Use for: I want the fixtures for a league on a given date, Get the current standings for a competition and season, Retrieve statistics for a specific team, Look up a player's season statistics

Not supported: Read-only football data only. Does not place bets, manage accounts, or cover sports other than football (soccer).

API-FOOTBALL provides read-only access to football (soccer) data across leagues, cups, teams, and players worldwide. It returns fixtures with live scores, events, lineups, and statistics, along with standings, head-to-head records, and season rounds. Beyond match data, it exposes player profiles and season statistics, transfers, trophies, injuries, coaches, predictions, and bookmaker odds. Every operation is a GET, so agents read structured football data without writing back to the service.

Install Jentic One Beta

Connect the API-FOOTBALL to your agent

Jentic One is a self-hosted execution layer for AI agents. It lets your agent call the API-FOOTBALL, or any other public or private API you need. You set the rules, the agent never sees your credentials, and every call is logged.

Two steps, two machines. Install the instance in a safe environment, then register your agent from wherever it runs.

1

Step 1: Jentic One Host machine

# On the machine that will host your Jentic One instance:
curl -fsSL "https://jentic.com/install.sh?src=apis&api=%2Fapis%2Fapi-football.com%2Fapi-football-free-api" | sh
2

Step 2: Agent machine

# On the machine where your agent runs (keep this separate from the instance):
curl -fsSL "https://jentic.com/install.sh?src=apis&api=%2Fapis%2Fapi-football.com%2Fapi-football-free-api" | sh
jentic register # connects your agent to your Jentic One instance

Jentic One is in public beta. The setup above keeps your agent separate from the instance, which is what you want before using real credentials: an agent running as the same OS user as Jentic One can read its stored keys directly. Just evaluating? A single local install is fine to start. See the secure deployment guide for the tiers.

Capabilities

What an agent can do with API-FOOTBALL API.

List and filter fixtures with scores, events, lineups, and statistics

Get league standings, rounds, and head-to-head records

Retrieve team information and season statistics

Look up player profiles, season statistics, and top scorers

Read match predictions and pre-match or in-play odds

Query transfers, trophies, injuries, and coaches

Use Cases

Patterns agents use API-FOOTBALL API for, with concrete tasks.

★ Live Match Tracking

An agent monitors an in-progress match and reports score changes, goals, and cards as they happen. It polls the fixtures data filtered to the live game and reads the events and statistics. Through Jentic the agent finds the fixtures operation and calls it with the fixture identifier, so the loop stays focused on one match.

Poll the fixtures data for a live match and report new goals and cards from its events

League Standings and Tables

A sports content agent builds an up-to-date league table for a season. It requests standings for the league and season and formats the ranking, points, and goal difference. This keeps a site or bot showing the current table without maintaining the data by hand.

Fetch standings for a league and season and return the ordered table with points

Player and Team Statistics

A fantasy or analysis agent needs season statistics for players and teams to rank performance. It reads player profiles and season statistics, then compares top scorers and assists. The structured statistics let the agent compute its own metrics without scraping.

Retrieve a player's season statistics and the league's top scorers for comparison

Odds and Predictions Feed

A betting-adjacent agent gathers pre-match odds and model predictions for upcoming fixtures. It reads the predictions and odds operations for a fixture and surfaces the bookmaker prices alongside the projected outcome. This assembles a decision feed from a single data source.

Read predictions and pre-match odds for an upcoming fixture and present them together

Key Endpoints

38 endpoints — api-football provides read-only access to football (soccer) data across leagues, cups, teams, and players worldwide.

Why Jentic?

What agents get from Jentic-routed access to this vendor.

Setup

Setup

Wiring API-FOOTBALL by hand means managing the x-apisports-key header against v3.football.api-sports.io and threading it through every data call yourself. Through Jentic you install once, import API-FOOTBALL from the API Directory, store the key once, and your agent calls it.

Permission scoping

Permission scoping

API-FOOTBALL is read-only, so a rule limits your agent to the GET operations it needs, such as fixtures and standings. You choose which operations it may call, so odds, transfers, or player queries are included only when you add them.

Credential management

Credential isolation

Your API-FOOTBALL key is stored once, encrypted, by your own Jentic One instance and injected at execution time. It never enters the agent's prompt, logs, or context.

Intent-based discovery

Intent-based discovery

Agents search Jentic by intent such as 'get league standings' or 'list fixtures', and Jentic returns the matching API-FOOTBALL operation with its parameters so the agent calls the right endpoint without browsing the reference docs.

Choose Sportmonks for its coverage and licensing terms; choose API-FOOTBALL for its plan structure and endpoints.

Alternative

TheSportsDB API

→

Cloudbet exposes a betting exchange; pair it with API-FOOTBALL data to inform odds and market decisions.

FAQs

Specific to using API-FOOTBALL API through Jentic.

What authentication does API-FOOTBALL use?

API-FOOTBALL authenticates with an API key sent in the x-apisports-key request header. Through Jentic, that key is stored encrypted by your own Jentic One instance and injected at execution time, so it never enters the agent's prompt or logs.

Is API-FOOTBALL read-only?

Yes. Every operation is a GET that retrieves football data such as fixtures, standings, players, and odds. There are no write operations, so an agent can read match and statistics data but cannot change anything on the service.

What are the rate limits for API-FOOTBALL?

Rate limits depend on your API-FOOTBALL subscription plan and are not fixed in the OpenAPI spec. Check the API-FOOTBALL documentation at https://www.api-football.com/documentation-v3 for the limits on your plan, and back off when you receive a 429 response.

How do I get league standings through Jentic?

Search Jentic for 'get league standings', import API-FOOTBALL from the API Directory, and store your key once. Jentic returns the standings operation with its league and season parameters so your agent can call it directly. To run it on your own infrastructure, install Jentic One from its GitHub repo.

Can I get live scores and match events from API-FOOTBALL?

Yes. The fixtures data includes live scores, and the events, lineups, and statistics for a fixture are available by filtering on the fixture identifier. An agent can poll a live match and read new goals and cards as they are recorded.

Can I limit what my agent is allowed to do with API-FOOTBALL?

Yes. You write a rule that allows only the operations the agent needs, such as reading fixtures and standings, so operations like odds or transfers are reachable only when you add them. Because Jentic One is self-hosted, those rules and the audit log of every call stay on your own infrastructure.

Is there an API-FOOTBALL MCP server?

You do not need an MCP server to give your agent API-FOOTBALL. Jentic connects it directly from the API Directory: import it, store your key once, and your agent can read fixtures, standings, and odds. That also keeps your agent's context free of an extra server's tool definitions.
