For Agents
Fetch read-only fantasy basketball and football rankings and per-player projections from the Ball Ranks model, for weekly and season horizons. An API key unlocks higher model versions.
Use for: Get this week's fantasy football rankings, Find a player's season ranking, Retrieve the projection for a specific player, Compare two players' projections for my lineup
Not supported: Does not handle live scores, betting odds, or roster transactions. Use for fantasy basketball and football rankings and projections only.
The Ball Ranks API serves read-only fantasy basketball and football rankings and projections produced by the Ball Ranks model. It returns weekly and season rankings and per-player rankings and projections, so fantasy tools can pull model output directly rather than scraping a site. Anonymous requests receive lower limits and Model v0 output, while an API key unlocks higher model versions.
Install Jentic One Beta
Jentic One is a self-hosted execution layer for AI agents. It lets your agent call the Ball Ranks API, or any other public or private API you need. You set the rules, the agent never sees your credentials, and every call is logged.
Two steps, two machines. Install the instance in a safe environment, then register your agent from wherever it runs.
Step 1: Jentic One Host machine
# On the machine that will host your Jentic One instance:
curl -fsSL "https://jentic.com/install.sh?src=apis&api=%2Fapis%2Fballranks.com%2Fballranks" | shStep 2: Agent machine
# On the machine where your agent runs (keep this separate from the instance):
curl -fsSL "https://jentic.com/install.sh?src=apis&api=%2Fapis%2Fballranks.com%2Fballranks" | sh
jentic register # connects your agent to your Jentic One instanceJentic One is in public beta. The setup above keeps your agent separate from the instance, which is what you want before using real credentials: an agent running as the same OS user as Jentic One can read its stored keys directly. Just evaluating? A single local install is fine to start. See the secure deployment guide for the tiers.
What an agent can do with Ball Ranks API.
Get weekly fantasy football rankings for the current slate
Retrieve season-long fantasy rankings
Look up an individual player's season ranking
Get a player's projection from the Ball Ranks model
Access higher projection model versions by sending a Ball Ranks API key
Patterns agents use Ball Ranks API for, with concrete tasks.
★ Agent-driven lineup assistant
An AI agent helping with a fantasy lineup can pull the current weekly rankings and a specific player's projection and turn them into a start-or-sit recommendation. Because the Ball Ranks API returns model output directly, the agent works from the same projections the model produces rather than parsing a web page.
Get this week's fantasy football rankings and the projection for a named player, then recommend start or sit
Draft preparation
Before a fantasy draft, a manager needs season-long rankings to build a board. The Ball Ranks API returns season rankings and per-player season rankings, so a draft tool can assemble a ranked board and look up any individual player on demand. An API key raises the model version used for the numbers.
Retrieve the season rankings and the season ranking for a specific player to seed a draft board
Weekly projection sync
A fantasy app that refreshes each game week can pull the weekly rankings and player projections on a schedule to keep its own views current. The API's weekly and per-player endpoints give a stable shape to sync, and anonymous access covers Model v0 while a key moves the sync to a higher model version.

Setup
Wiring the Ball Ranks API by hand means handling its optional bearer key, the anonymous-versus-keyed model-version difference, and parsing each ranking and projection shape yourself. Through Jentic you install once, import Ball Ranks from the API Directory, store the key once, and your agent calls it.
Permission scoping
Ball Ranks exposes only read operations, and a rule bounds which of them your agent may call, such as rankings and projections. You choose the operations it may call, so the agent cannot reach beyond the reads you allow.
Credential isolation
Your Ball Ranks key is stored once, encrypted, by your own Jentic One instance and injected at execution time. It never enters the agent's prompt, logs, or context.
Intent-based discovery
Agents search Jentic by intent such as 'get fantasy rankings' or 'get a player's projection', and Jentic returns the matching Ball Ranks operation with its input schema so the agent calls the right endpoint without reading the reference docs.

What authentication does the Ball Ranks API use?
The Ball Ranks API accepts an optional Ball Ranks API key as a bearer token, as declared in its OpenAPI spec. Anonymous requests are allowed with lower limits and Model v0 output. Through Jentic the key is stored once and injected at call time, so it never appears in your agent's prompt or logs.
Does an API key change what the Ball Ranks API returns?
Yes. Anonymous requests receive Model v0 output and lower limits, while sending a Ball Ranks API key as a bearer token unlocks higher model versions for the rankings and projections.
What are the rate limits for the Ball Ranks API?
The OpenAPI spec notes that anonymous requests receive lower limits than keyed ones but does not state numeric values. Check the vendor documentation at https://ballranks.com for current limits before running frequent syncs.
How do I get fantasy rankings through Jentic with the Ball Ranks API?
Search Jentic for 'get fantasy rankings', which returns the GET /api/v1/rankings/weekly operation with its input schema, then call it. To run it on your own infrastructure, install Jentic One from its GitHub repo.
Can I limit what my agent is allowed to do with the Ball Ranks API?
Yes. Write a rule that allows only the rankings and projections read operations, so the agent can fetch fantasy data and nothing else, and every call it makes is logged. Ball Ranks exposes only read endpoints, so no rule can let it write.
