Install Jentic One Beta
Jentic One is a self-hosted execution layer for AI agents. It lets your agent call the FX Macrodata API, or any other public or private API you need. You set the rules, the agent never sees your credentials, and every call is logged.
Two steps, two machines. Install the instance in a safe environment, then register your agent from wherever it runs.
Step 1: Jentic One Host machine
# On the machine that will host your Jentic One instance:
curl -fsSL "https://jentic.com/install.sh?src=apis&api=%2Fapis%2Ffxmacrodata.com%2Ffxmacrodata" | shStep 2: Agent machine
# On the machine where your agent runs (keep this separate from the instance):
curl -fsSL "https://jentic.com/install.sh?src=apis&api=%2Fapis%2Ffxmacrodata.com%2Ffxmacrodata" | sh
jentic register # connects your agent to your Jentic One instanceJentic One is in public beta. The setup above keeps your agent separate from the instance, which is what you want before using real credentials: an agent running as the same OS user as Jentic One can read its stored keys directly. Just evaluating? A single local install is fine to start. See the secure deployment guide for the tiers.

Patterns agents use FX Macrodata API for, with concrete tasks.
★ AI Agent Macro Lookup via Jentic
An AI agent reaches FX Macrodata through Jentic to ground a market question in official data without wiring the X-API-Key header itself. It searches by intent, receives the matching operation and its input schema, and executes the read with the key injected at run time. This lets the agent cite a dated reference rate or indicator value rather than guess at a macro figure.
Search Jentic for 'latest macro indicators for a currency', load the GET /v1/announcements/{currency}/latest schema, and execute it with the X-API-Key injected at run time
Economic Calendar Watch
A trading or research workflow tracks upcoming economic releases and reads the new values as they land. FX Macrodata returns the release calendar for a currency and the latest indicator values once a figure is published, so an agent can react to a surprise against the forecast. The announcement-changes endpoint lets it poll for freshly released data.
Call GET /v1/calendar/{currency} to read upcoming releases, then GET /v1/announcements/{currency}/latest after a release to read the new values
FX Reference Rate Lookup
An accounting or pricing workflow needs an official, timestamped FX reference rate for a currency pair. FX Macrodata returns the official reference rate and session-close rates from public sources, so an agent can value a position or a transaction against a rate it can cite. Rate differentials between a pair are available for carry and relative-value work.
Call GET /v1/fx/reference-rates/{base}/{quote} to read the official timestamped reference rate for a currency pair
Positioning and Sentiment Analysis
A macro strategy reads speculative positioning and the prevailing risk mood. FX Macrodata returns CFTC Commitment of Traders positioning for a currency and a global risk-on or risk-off indicator, so an agent can weigh crowding against sentiment. Recorded sentiment changes let it see when the regime last flipped.
Call GET /v1/cot/{currency} for Commitment of Traders positioning and GET /v1/risk_sentiment for the current risk-on or risk-off reading
30 endpoints — the fx macrodata api serves official-source macroeconomic and fx market data across 22 currencies.

What agents get from Jentic-routed access to this vendor.
Setup
Wiring FX Macrodata by hand means sending the X-API-Key header or a Bearer token, knowing which datasets are open for USD and which need a key, and handling the SSE announcement stream yourself. Through Jentic you install once, import FX Macrodata from the API Directory, store the key once, and your agent calls it.
Permission scoping
FX Macrodata puts the currency and pair in the URL path, such as /v1/announcements/{currency}/latest and /v1/forex/{base}/{quote}, so a rule can limit your agent to the currencies and datasets it needs and nothing else. You choose which operations it may call, so the intraday subscriber streams are not reachable unless you add them.
Credential isolation
Your FX Macrodata key is stored once, encrypted, by your own Jentic One instance and injected at execution time. It never enters the agent's prompt, logs, or context.
Intent-based discovery
Agents search Jentic by intent such as 'official EUR USD reference rate' or 'upcoming economic releases', and Jentic returns the matching FX Macrodata operation with its input schema so the agent calls the right endpoint without browsing the reference docs.

Specific to using FX Macrodata API through Jentic.
What authentication does the FX Macrodata API use?
The FX Macrodata API accepts an API key in the X-API-Key header or as a Bearer token in the Authorization header, per its OpenAPI spec. USD data is available without a key, while other currencies and datasets require one. A deprecated api_key query parameter is still accepted, mainly for browser EventSource stream clients that cannot set headers. Through Jentic the key is stored encrypted by your own Jentic One instance and injected at execution time, so it never reaches the agent.
What are the rate limits for the FX Macrodata API?
The OpenAPI spec does not specify request rate limits. Access tiers gate which currencies and datasets a key can read instead: USD data is open, and other datasets need a key. See https://api.fxmacrodata.com for current limits and plans.
Can I read macroeconomic indicators with the FX Macrodata API?
Yes. GET /v1/announcements/{currency}/latest returns the latest values for every indicator in a currency, GET /v1/announcements/{currency}/{indicator} returns one indicator's series, and GET /v1/calendar/{currency} lists upcoming releases. Central-bank press releases and financial prices are available per currency alongside them.
Is there an FX Macrodata MCP server?
You don't need an MCP server to give your agent FX Macrodata. Jentic connects it directly from the API Directory: import it and your agent calls the rates, indicator, and positioning operations on demand, discovering each operation's schema when it needs it rather than loading a separate server's tool definitions into context.
How do I read the latest indicators for a currency through Jentic?
Search Jentic for 'latest macro indicators for a currency', and it returns the FX Macrodata announcements operation with its input schema. Load it and execute GET /v1/announcements/{currency}/latest with the key injected at run time. To run it on your own infrastructure, install Jentic One from its GitHub repo.
Can I limit what my agent is allowed to do with the FX Macrodata API?
Yes. Because FX Macrodata carries the currency and pair in the URL path, write a rule that allows only the reads a task needs for specific currencies, for example the calendar and announcements for the euro and the dollar, so the agent cannot pull the intraday streams or other currencies. Every call runs through your own instance, so each one is logged for you to review.
For Agents
Read official FX reference rates, macroeconomic indicators, release calendars, central-bank rates, COT positioning, and commodity data across 22 currencies. Authenticates with an API key in the X-API-Key header or a Bearer token; USD data is open.
Use for: Get the official EUR USD reference rate, List the upcoming economic releases for a currency, Retrieve the latest macroeconomic indicators for a currency, Check the central-bank policy rate for a currency
Not supported: Does not handle trade execution, brokerage accounts, or portfolio management. Use for reading macroeconomic and FX reference data only.
The FX Macrodata API serves official-source macroeconomic and FX market data across 22 currencies. It returns FX spot and timestamped reference rates, macroeconomic indicator values with release calendars, central-bank policy rates and press releases, financial prices and yield curves, CFTC Commitment of Traders positioning, and commodity indicators. Point-in-time research panels reconstruct the values known at each decision time, and a risk-sentiment indicator tracks the global risk-on and risk-off state. USD data is available without a key, while other currencies and datasets require one.
This API is usable in Jentic One now. Its AI-readiness score against Jentic's framework shows where it stands today and where improvements would make it even easier for agents to use.
