Install Jentic One Beta

Connect the Statistics Canada Web Data Service to your agent

Jentic One is a self-hosted execution layer for AI agents. It lets your agent call the Statistics Canada Web Data Service, or any other public or private API you need. You set the rules, the agent never sees your credentials, and every call is logged.

Two steps, two machines. Install the instance in a safe environment, then register your agent from wherever it runs.

Step 1: Jentic One Host machine

# On the machine that will host your Jentic One instance:
curl -fsSL "https://jentic.com/install.sh?src=apis&api=%2Fapis%2Fstatcan.gc.ca%2Fstatcan-gc-ca" | sh

Step 2: Agent machine

# On the machine where your agent runs (keep this separate from the instance):
curl -fsSL "https://jentic.com/install.sh?src=apis&api=%2Fapis%2Fstatcan.gc.ca%2Fstatcan-gc-ca" | sh
jentic register # connects your agent to your Jentic One instance

Jentic One is in public beta. The setup above keeps your agent separate from the instance, which is what you want before using real credentials: an agent running as the same OS user as Jentic One can read its stored keys directly. Just evaluating? A single local install is fine to start. See the secure deployment guide for the tiers.

Use Cases

Patterns agents use Statistics Canada Web Data Service API for, with concrete tasks.

★ Developer Tools Operations

Use the Statistics Canada Web Data Service to perform developer tools operations programmatically. The API provides 17 endpoints covering core functionality including post data request, get changed series list, invoke getchangedserieslist.

Call POST /en/tv.action to post data request

Automated En Management

Automate en operations by combining multiple Statistics Canada Web Data Service endpoints. Agents can get changed series list and then invoke getchangedserieslist in a single workflow.

Call GET /en/tv.action to get changed series list, then verify the result

AI Agent Integration via Jentic

AI agents discover and call Statistics Canada Web Data Service endpoints through Jentic without managing credentials directly. An agent searches for the required operation by intent, receives the matching endpoint schema, and executes the call with Jentic-managed authentication. This eliminates the need to read API documentation or handle none tokens manually.

Search Jentic for 'post data request', load the operation schema, and execute with Jentic-managed credentials

Key Endpoints

17 endpoints — statistics canada web data service provides programmatic access to canadian statistical data including cubes, series, and bulk vector data.

Why Jentic?

What agents get from Jentic-routed access to this vendor.

Setup

Wiring the Statistics Canada Web Data Service by hand means reading its unauthenticated conventions, learning the cube, vector and series request shapes, and mapping each POST data query yourself. Through Jentic you install once, import the Statistics Canada Web Data Service from the API Directory, and your agent calls it with no credential to manage.

Permission scoping

This service needs no credential, so scoping is about operations: you limit the agent to the calls it needs, such as fetching cube metadata or series information, so it never touches other operations unless you include them.

Credential isolation

The Statistics Canada Web Data Service requires no credential, so there is nothing to store, and no secret ever enters the agent's prompt, logs, or context. Jentic One still executes the calls on your behalf so the agent works from the operation's input schema alone.

Intent-based discovery

Agents search Jentic by intent such as 'get cube metadata' or 'fetch a data series by vector', and Jentic returns the matching Statistics Canada Web Data Service operation with its input schema so the agent calls the right endpoint without browsing the reference docs.

FAQs

Specific to using Statistics Canada Web Data Service API through Jentic.

What authentication does the Statistics Canada Web Data Service use?

The Statistics Canada Web Data Service uses no authentication. Through Jentic, these credentials are stored encrypted in your Jentic One instance and injected at execution time, so raw secrets never enter the agent context.

Can I post data request with the Statistics Canada Web Data Service?

Yes. Use the POST /en/tv.action endpoint. The API returns structured JSON responses that agents can parse and act on directly.

What are the rate limits for the Statistics Canada Web Data Service?

Rate limits are not specified in the OpenAPI spec. Check the vendor documentation for current limits. Through Jentic, rate limiting is handled automatically with retry logic built into the execution layer.

How do I post data request through Jentic?

Install the Jentic SDK with pip install jentic, authenticate through Jentic One, the self-hosted execution layer, then search for 'post data request'. Jentic returns the matching Statistics Canada Web Data Service operation with its input schema. Load the schema and execute the call - credentials are injected automatically.

How many endpoints does the Statistics Canada Web Data Service have?

The Statistics Canada Web Data Service exposes 17 endpoints covering en, getallcubeslist, getallcubeslistlite operations.

Can I limit what my agent is allowed to do with the Statistics Canada Web Data Service API?

Yes. This service needs no credential, so scoping is about operations: because you self-host Jentic One, your own rules decide which of the 17 calls the agent can reach. You can expose only the operations it needs, such as fetching cube metadata or series information, so it never touches any other operation unless you include it.
